Built for the
long season

USA Prime Boys & Girls of Summer is a travel organization that runs its own indoor facility — which means our teams practice on their own schedule instead of renting somebody else's leftover hours.

Who we areThirty-seven seasons

A not-for-profit organization established in 1989 and based out of Northeast Ohio, we are one of Ohio’s oldest premier amateur baseball organizations still in existence today.

We field baseball and softball teams at every age group from 9U through 18U. We compete locally in nationally sanctioned baseball and softball leagues, and in local and out-of-state tournaments against highly competitive teams from across the United States and Canada.

Founded by our late president Darrel Jennings, the organization passed in 2014 to Greg Kroah, who runs it today as managing partner. Sam Petrey joined him as a second managing partner in 2024.

We honor our founder by continuing that history — building great ball players, and turning out young men and women ready to take on the world as they head into adulthood.

Hard work, dedication, and commitment live here.

What Prime addsNational footprint

Being part of USA Prime puts a Northeast Ohio roster on a national map. Prime runs programs across the country, and that network is what opens doors a single local club cannot — national events, showcases in front of college and professional scouts, and competition against the best teams from other regions rather than the same opponents every summer.

For a player chasing the next level, that exposure is the point. Scouts go where the talent is concentrated, and the Prime name is what gets our teams into those rooms.

Our mission

To teach the integrity of the games of baseball and softball, and to help players understand the greatness of these games while learning the life lessons that come with their sport.

To guide and enhance the process of advancing to the college or professional level.

To provide the best learning atmosphere, the best competition, and the most fun the games of baseball and softball have to offer.

How we do it
  • We reinforce what you already teach at home. Attitude, teamwork, hustle and discipline — the positive values parents and guardians instill in our players.
  • A year-round program. Instruction from a wide array of knowledgeable, well-respected coaches and instructors, aimed at accelerating how fast a player’s skills develop.
  • New avenues to next-level exposure. We keep looking for places our players can showcase their talent against best-in-class competition.
  • A rich tradition of winning, maintained.
What the season coversIncluded in participation
Local league play

Younger teams start in late April or early May. High school-aged teams start immediately on high school release.

Release usually falls between the end of May and mid-June, depending on how far each high school program goes.
A fall season

Steady fall training, scrimmages and team activities from mid to late August through early October.

Scrimmage schedules vary by team.
5–6 tournaments

Typically including at least one out-of-state tournament.

Fields and equipment

Baseballs and softballs, training equipment, field rental and umpire fees.

The indoor facility

A state-of-the-art indoor training facility in Cuyahoga Falls, conveniently located between Canton and Cleveland.

Uniform and equipment package

The full Boys of Summer or Girls of Summer kit.

Off-season training

An ongoing program running from September until games start in May.

OHSAA rules prohibit our older teams from training during the high school season, which usually begins sometime in February.
Nothing hidden

Every dollar raised — participation cost, sponsorship, fundraising or otherwise — goes directly toward the cost of running the organization.

The managing partners, board and coaches pledge to keep improving and streamlining operations, to make participation as cost-efficient as possible without compromising the integrity of the program.

We welcome players, parents, guardians and coaches who are committed to supporting this mission and to the rules and guidelines set out in our Codes of Conduct and Participation.

What we are now

9U through 18U, one standard

Baseball and softball at every age group. Every team carries the same crest, the same practice expectations and the same development plan, whether it’s a first year of kid-pitch or a last summer chasing college looks.

Coaching that stays

Coaches move up with their group where it makes sense, so a kid who starts at 10U isn’t starting over with a stranger every fall.

The building is the difference

An open indoor field for full team practices, plus a dedicated bay running HitTrax. Bad weather stops being a reason to cancel.

Open to the neighborhood

When our teams aren’t on the floor, high school programs, rec leagues and families can rent the floor or the HitTrax bay at posted rates.

Seven lanes, 90 ft deep

The open floor

Ninety feet by fourteen per lane, seven of them — infield work, ground balls, pitchers off a portable mound at 60′6″ and 46′ for the younger groups. When a team has it, they have all of it.

The instrumented lane

HitTrax & the machine

One dedicated lane, and the only one with the pitching machine in it. Exit velocity, launch angle and projected distance on the screen while you swing. It books independently — the one thing that runs alongside a team practice.

Nobody cares, work harder

The weight room

Rack, bar, dumbbells, kettlebells, slam balls and a treadmill. Speed-and-agility groups and off-season strength work run in here while the floor is busy.

Open when the floor is booked — the calendar is the schedule.

Shared calendar · All teams · All renters

Book the field

A team practice takes the whole field — that's the rule the calendar is built around. The only thing that runs alongside it is the HitTrax lane. Weekly practice blocks are set by staff; everything else on this board books itself, and only cancellations come back to a human.

Prime coaches — extra practices

Your weekly block is already on the calendar — staff set the rotation from what the coaches asked for. This is for everything on top of it: a makeup after a rainout, extra reps the week of a tournament, an early session before a showcase.

  • No charge. Team time inside the organization is free — if the floor is open, take it
  • Your team code shows you open floor; the weekly rotation is set by staff, not claimed here
  • An extra practice books the whole field, confirmed on the spot
  • Booking the whole field never takes the HitTrax lane — if nobody is in it, your team just has the extra space
  • Open time unlocks 14 days ahead
  • Tap your own practice on the board to drop that one date — your weekly block stays put
  • A dropped practice goes straight back on the board; any team can take it, no permission needed
  • Moving or dropping the recurring block itself is a staff job — ask them

Outside organizations

High school programs, rec leagues, other clubs and families. Take the whole floor by the hour when no team has it, or an hour in the HitTrax bay any time it is free.

  • The whole floor is $150 an hour — five lanes, 90 ft by 14 ft each
  • Call for a discount on bulk bookings
  • Rental lanes have no machine and no HitTrax
  • The HitTrax bay stays bookable even when the whole floor is taken — $40 an hour for anybody
  • Single-lane hire is not open yet — whole floor only for now
  • Confirmed immediately — no waiting on staff, paid at booking

How to read this: Seven lanes, 90 ft by 14 ft each. Lanes 1–5 are the floor; a practice stretches across all five because that is exactly what it takes. The HitTrax bay on the right takes up the last two and is never blocked by anything on the floor — if nobody has booked it, the team practising just has the extra room. Hatched cells are closed; tap one and it says why.

What you are booking

The floor

Seven lanes, 98 ft across and 90 ft deep. A practice takes lanes 1–5; the bay is its own booking.

The board runs 8:00 AM to 9:00 PM and scrolls inside its own frame — drag it up and down for a time, sideways for the fourth lane. Tap any open cell to book it. Nothing saves in this concept.

Rules the calendar enforces

A practice takes the field

Team practice needs an open field, so booking one puts a bar across every rental lane for that window. No renter can land underneath it and no practice can start on top of a rental.

The HitTrax lane is carved out

One lane, HitTrax and the pitching machine in it, on its own calendar. It is the only thing in the building that can run at the same time as a team practice.

Rent a lane, not the gear

Rental lanes are nets and space. The machine and HitTrax live in their own lane and get booked there — the rental form says so before anyone pays.

Refuse, then explain

When a booking collides with a practice, the calendar names the team holding the field and points at the next open window instead of just greying the cell out.

One lane · HitTrax and the pitching machine · Books independently

The instrumented lane

Every swing gets a number — exit velocity, launch angle, projected distance. It's the only lane with the machine, and the only booking in the building that runs alongside a team practice.

Pick a session type

One lane, so one column — slot length follows the session type you picked above. Nothing on this calendar is affected by what the teams are doing on the field.

Bracket on the screen

Eight hitters, three rounds, hardest-hit ball advances. The lane already keeps score — the site handles signup, seeding and the payout of bragging rights.

Season leaderboard

Top exit velo by age group, posted publicly. Nothing makes a 13-year-old book another session faster than seeing his name in second.

Runs during practice

Because the lane is carved out, derby night can run while a team works the field. Two revenue streams, same hour.

Player accounts · Credits · The HitTrax lane

Training credits

Sign a player up once. Rostered Prime players start each season with credits already in the account; everybody else buys a pack. Spend them on cage time until they run out, then top up.

On the training schedule

Group sessions the coaches put on — clinics, position work, derby nights. Open to rostered Prime players only, and paid for with the same credits as the lane. Staff post and pull these from the admin panel.

Sign a player up

One account per player. The parent's email is where confirmations and the balance reminder go.

A rostered player starts the season with 12 credits already in the account. Leave the team and code blank and the account works the same way — it just starts empty, and you buy a pack.

How credits work

One currency for every kind of solo cage time, so nobody has to read a price list before they book.

  • Rostered Prime players start the season with 12 credits, included in team fees
  • Everyone else creates an account free and buys a pack to start
  • Credits come off the balance the moment a session is booked
  • Cancel any time and the credits go straight back — no waiting on staff
  • Credits reset every August 1 — nothing carries over into the next season
  • Prime families buy top-up packs at a lower rate than outside players
Credit packsPrime family pricing

Packs never expire on purchase — the credits inside them expire with the season, same as the rest. Prices are placeholders like everything else on this build.

Why credits instead of prices

The decision gets smaller

A parent deciding whether to spend $45 on a Tuesday says no more often than one spending 5 of the 12 credits already sitting in the account. The money conversation happened once, at registration.

Empty hours get used

Credits that expire at season end are credits that get spent. The reminder email at 3 credits left does more for your Tuesday afternoons than any discount.

The roster spot gets heavier

Twelve credits in the account is a number on the registration page. It makes the team fee feel like it bought something specific.

Refunds stop being awkward

Cancel in time and the credits go back instantly. No card refunds, no partial charges, no phone call.

Seven lanes at $25 each would be $175 for the floor. It is $150, because the HitTrax setup takes up one or two of them until it gets moved. Single-lane hire is priced and built but switched off while the schedule settles — staff turn it on, and pick the nights and hours, from the admin panel. Rental lanes never include the machine or HitTrax; those are priced below. Call for a discount on bulk bookings.

Team cage day — 90 min (parked)—$190

$40 an hour, flat. There is no separate family discount in cash — a rostered Prime player uses 2 credits, and that is what it costs them. Twelve credits with a roster spot is six HitTrax hours. One hour is the only HitTrax booking right now. The half-hour slots are gone. The three marked parked are built and priced but switched off — they come back on from the admin panel when the bay is reconfigured. Sundays belong to the HitTrax League, so the bay takes no bookings that day.
